Summary:
Shell lies to the group telling them he dropped his glove but instead goes to the angel wings post. There the girl tells him her name is Angel and that she knows Shell is not his real name. She is also wearing a green glass bottle with a silver chain (like Stacey's). On her neck is and X. She tells him that is marks partnership. She knows he is in a partnership but tells him it is not Lily. She also knows about the gold watch and tells him it means something. Before Angel kisses him and disappears she tells him that she is his guardian angel.
Shell wakes up and goes to the dock even though it is after curfew. For some reason he is scared and feel nauseous. Brick comes and they both do a spell to conjure up spirits. Brick suggest Rosa, Mason's old wife who got sick and died from living in a material world, but Shell insists on his Uncle. Brick finds he is remembering more. Shell also remembers watching up in the camp with a gash in his head. He wants to find the angel girl but Brick tells him they aren't going again until next month. Tomorrow, though, they are going shopping.
Brick tells him that the barbed wire around the fence is to keep people out but Shell knows it is for keeping people in. This is the same reason for chaperones. Shell wonders if he will ever be able to go. Mason believes if one person goes they all will. Brick then tells Shell about Clay's gun and stealing. He thinks that Clay stole a necklace and jewelry but Rain's post. Shell can't get over the fact the stealing is not right.
Response:
I you don't realize that Shell is Jacob there is something wrong with you. Shell is not his real name, Lily is not his partner, he remember the necklace and his uncle, he had a gash on his head (from the boat), he has nightmares, he knows about spells, and he doesn't like to steal. When I was typing the summary I kept typing Jacob instead of Shell. It is just plain as day. The author must be doing this purposely because she hid the clues in the other books well. The book is divided up in chapter about Stacey and Shell/Jacob. I much rather read about Jacob because I am tired of Stacey's nightmares. 3 books of that is enough. I just want to read about their reunion.
