Red is for Remembrance Pg. 95-120

Summary:

Stacey wakes up and answers the phone. The person on the other line says "I know you're alone" and "you wouldn't hang up." Stacey hangs up anyways and tries to close the window but she can't. Now there is a male voice who also says she is alone but no one else is in the room. The door to her dorm is locked and when she opens her closet door there in blood is written "I know you're alone." Stacey answers the phone again and the person on the other line tells her to help Porsha or the boy will die. The person also comments on the crystal rock then someone is suffocating Stacey. Stacey wakes up and realizes to move on with her life she needs to save Porsha.

She goes to the presidents office but he isn' there. Porsha arrives but doesn't want to talk to Stacey. Porsha then starts singing the "dead" song like in Stacey's nightmare. Porsha then stabs herself with a pencil and puts blood all over the wall. Stacey knows what it is like to be on the brink of insanity and feeling like she is dead. Stacey goes back to her dorm and makes up a story to her therapist for more tranquilizers. She knows that the little girl in her dream is Porsha's mother but doesn't know why she is young. Amber tries to get Stacey go party but declines even though Tim asks about her. PJ walks in when everybody is sleeping and tells them that he is going to Beacon now. But he has no where to live so he expects to live there. Stacey and Amber are both sort of excited about this.

Response:

This book talks a lot about being alone. Someone is most vulnerable when they are alone. They have no one to back them up. Stacey is in this case. The voices know she is alone and are feeding upon it. Amber is no much help though she believes her nightmares she knows that Jacob is dead. Amber is just trying to be a good friend. I don't know if there is much to do for Porsha. She is clearly passed the brink to return. Stabbing herself with a pencil makes a statement. She also spread her blood on the wall which is insanity.  The doctors are right to think she should be put away. The next time she makes a flesh wound it may not be her own. This book is teaching weird lesson's. One is to always get as many drugs as possible to ease the pain. No! Drugs are not the answers. I know Stacey has a problems but she is hooked on tranquilizers. She had to lie to get more. Not smart. I hope with helping Porhsa she can move on.
