Summary:
Three months later and after Donovan's trial Stacey is finaly reaching peace. Veronica apparently planned her scare on Drea. She was going on vacation and leaving would scare Drea that she disappeared but instead of leaving Donovan killed her. Donovan gave reason to all of his actions. He gave the handkerchief to Veronica so he could have someone to blame his workings on her. Donovan tricked his jury to believe he didn't want to kill her just to talk to Veronica. They also believed that he was waiting for Drea in her dorm lobby to talk to her but lead her to his surprise in the forest where Drea got weired out and wanted to leave. Donovan didn't want Drea to leave and he could not have that. Donovan left Stacey in the woods to hide Drea so Stacey couldn't find her.
In the end Donovan was charged with involuntary manslaughter, temporaliy insane, and was sent to a juvenile detention center for boys for 5 years until he was 21 years old. This didn't settle with Stacey right he will be put away for 5 years and Veronica has none left. They held a party for Drea because now she will be tutored and counseled at home the rest of the semester. Amber now is moving in with Stacey unless she starts wetting the bed again. At the party she give Drea a new diary, 5 pounds of chocolate, and of course the protection bottle. When Amber and PJ leaves Drea asks to talk to Stacey alone. Even though that Drea and Chad have been hanging out during the trials they are just friends. Drea suggests to Stacey to give Chad a try because he has a thing for her. The book concludes with the satisfaction that Stacey is now strong and finally trusts herself.
Response:
I never really expect this kind of obvious ending to a book. I was so direct and bland. Yes Donovan was sent away and Drea will now be at home but where is the fun in ending the book like that. The ending made me sad. That is the sort of ending a movie gives to a book just to leave the audience happy. Which I was happy but mad that Donovan will be out soon after killing someone. Killing should have him be away longer. I am not satistfied with that. I am also glad Chad and Stacey are going to be together. YAY. The romance ends happily. Drea is so understanding now that she was almost killed. Great book, 3 more to go!
