In the movie Spellbound by director Jeffrey Blitz highlights teenagers and their attempt to win the National Spellling Bee. Two teenagers really stuck out. Angela and Neil had the same motive but are studying constantly for different reasons.
Angela Arenivar works hard for the title. Like everyone else she put in countless hours of studying. Her technique for studying was to use posters and notecards for repition. She was interviewed before the National Bee and she said that she dreams of winning and holding the trophy above her head. She also wants to appear on Rosy O'Donald. The satisfaction of accomplishing something after hard work is the reason for all of her hard work.
Neil also spent hours studying. His dad even hired a tutor. Neil and his father have many steps to remember the spelling of words. Word, definition, origin etc... His technique and Angela's technique both are good different styles that help them learn words. Neil's biological father paid people in India to pray for Neil. He also was going to pay to feed 5,000 people in India if he wins. Him winning means food for starving people. But Neil misspelled the word "darjeeling".
