Sam is still enforcingh his plan to attack the Cullens and destroy the monster in Bella. Jacob has doubts and doesn't want to attack. He starts thinking that he was born to be Alpha not Sam. He was not born to follow, he was bigger Sam. He makes up his mind and runs away to warn the Cullens. Alone with the Cullens they might have a chance to win.

Jacob in Wolf Form
In case he was being follow Jacob ran full speed. But then he noticed someone behind him. It was Seth he wants to join Jacob's pack. Jacob doesn't want to lead a pack. Seth notices a change between them. They can hear the voices of the other pack. Now they can't hear them coming. Jacob and Seth then were off to warn the Cullens. As they approach they thought they come in peace so Edward could tell the others. Seth was on look out while, Jacob told Edward all that has happen and he called Carlisle and Esme. They all concluded that Sam wouldn't attack now that they were down two wolves. They also wouldn't want to their brothers. During the night Jacob looked in to get of peek at Bella. Since the last time he was there, the walls were metal and Bella was hooked up to tubes and wires. This shocked Jacob, she was worse.

Response:
I think it is wonderful that Jacob broke from the pack. He is doing what he think is right. That can be applied in life too. People should not follow someone if they do not believe in them. I am also glad Seth is following. This helps Jacob out a lot. Seth brings happiness to a sad story and makes the story more interesting. Bella is not getting better either. Jacob only is only protecting the vampires because of Bella which is a noble reason. Seth likes vampires, he thinks of them as friends. Seth is a great example of a true follower.
